Once you have arrived at the “heart” of the Indonesian Republic, it is necessary to pass the immigration control, afterwards you can collect your bags and head to the exit because the staff om FM7 Hotel will be waiting for you to take you directly to the hotel. The hotel is just within 15 minutes’ drive from the airport, once you have arrived at the hotel make sure after the check in process you confirm with the hotel at which time they must transfer you back to the airport next day. After you have finished this you can enjoy the charming hotel by resting from the international flight.
After you have enjoyed your breakfast at FM7 Hotel, it is time to catch your transfer flight to Pangkalan Bun. Which is located on an Island in Borneo, or better known by Indonesians as Kalimantan. Once you have arrived in Kalimantan there is a guide outside waiting for you, the guide will take you to the port of Kumai where we will begin on a great adventure. The adventure will start with our traditional wooden boat called Klotok, after the guide reconfirmed with his crew if everything is ready the cruise will begin on the famous Sekonyer River.
If your flight arrives early (before 11.30am), we can arrive on time at the Tanjung Harapan rehabilitation centre which is on 3o clock in the afternoon, where the Rangers of the National Park feed the Orangutans and you will experience as one of the first a close encounter with them. Tanjung Harapan’s means Cape of Hope. The first camp has a lot of wetlands and later at the day there will be a lot of mosquitos. So make sure to prepare yourself for the wet conditions and the mosquitos. After visiting the Rangers Camp we will continue on the river, by looking for animals in the vicinity of the Sekonyer River. At the afternoon it is very common to see groups of Narigudos moneys and macaques in the treetops, they are jumping from one branch to the other, it is even possible to see monitor lizards or crocodiles on the river’s sides. After looking for the animals we will prepare for the sunset and sleep along the river.
After an extraordinary breakfast, we will leave on time to see the Tanggui camp. Around 9 am you will see that the branches of treetops begin to move, you will see the silhouettes of the Orangutans arriving little by little, the orangutans will be fed. Tanggui was a loose camp of young Orangutans that were rehabilitated, the camp is still busy to feed them every day to prevent the Orangutans from moving away from the camp. The camp is doing this because they are afraid the Orangutans will be ending outside the national park, with following risk of falling into traps of settlers or Palm Oil Plantation fields. After feeding them, we will return to the Klotok to continue our journey on the river. Along this journey you have the opportunity to see how the river change from colour, and furthermore there is a possibility to see crocodiles and large monitor lizards, along with Gibbons and Narigudos Monkeys.
After having the chance to see the crocodiles and lizards, we will arrive at Camp Leakey, this is an old Orangutan Research and Rehabilitation centre that is established since 1971. In this rehabilitation centre are at least 200 orangutans already been cured and returned to the jungles thanks to this center, however, since 1995, the Government of Indonesia has banned the introduction of more Orangutans in this camp. Meaning, the Orangutans are increasingly adapting to freedom today, this camp is nowadays used for behavioral and feeding research for Orangutans. Together with your guide, you will explore the inside of the jungle to find free Orangutans and other animals. Around 14.00 is the feeding time of the Orangutans, which you also will experience. Furthermore, there is also a small museum made by the scientist Dr. Birute Galdikas which you also can visit. In the afternoon, if it does not rain, the ship will be docked near a congregation of fireflies and you can enjoy the show.
Today we finish our stay in the jungles of Borneo. Early in the morning, we will enjoy the last moments before heading to the port, in turn, to be transferred to the airport to head to Bali through Surabaya or Jakarta. Welcome to the island of the gods, Bali. Upon arrival in Bali, transfer to the hotel in the Kuta area only for transit before continuing to travel to Komodo.
After your breakfast in Kuta you will take a direct flight from Denpasar to Labuan Bajo, this is an interesting place because of the Komodo National Park. Once you arrive at Labuan Bajo airport you will meet your guide and he will directly transfer you to the port to step on the boat to go to the Marine Park of Komodo. Today you will meet the Komodo Dragons, in order to see them, we will go to Rinca island where you can see the Komodo Dragons in their natural environment. Once we arrived at Rinca Island, there is a possibility to see water buffalo, macaque monkeys, cockatoos, wild horses, etc. Then in the afternoon, the ship is anchored next to mangroves, to see how millions of bats fly at sunset. You will have dinner and spend the night on the boat in the Rinca Sea.
Today we will sail to Loh Liang, the Rangers station on Komodo Island. During the three and a half hours of navigation, you will recognize that the sea is like a large lake, dotted with hundreds of tiny islands. Mostly uninhabited, or with only a few fishermen, who moor in them, to rest or pass the night. Once we arrive on the Island we have to register us at the rangers office, where we also have to pay the National Park fee. After this we can explore the island, during this adventure there will be a ranger with us all the time during the trip. The Rangers will always lead the group. The ranger will carry a long shovel with a sharp point, to make sure that the dragons keep their distance from us. The Rangers will give us a brief explanation of behavior in the park and what we can see. Open your eyes and keep silent, this will always be the best advice. In addition to Komodo Dragons, we also can see Javan rusa, wild pigs, fast running chickens, Sulphur-crested cockatoo, snakes, etc.
After the trekking we will arrive at Pantai-Merah, this is a red-pink beach where you can snorkel in beautiful coral reefs. Did you know that Indonesia is the most important center of marine biodiversity in the world, where the species of the Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean join together with the endemic species of Indonesia. Snorkeling and swimming at the place with the greatest number of underwater species from around the world will be the experience of your life. In the afternoon we will go to the port of Labuan Bajo, and from there to the hotel.
