Located on the banks of the Nhue River, Van Phuc village has a 1000-year history of silk weaving and this practice remains a rich tradition to this day. Take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the sights and sounds of a traditional northern Vietnamese village, with longhouses, fish ponds and ancient banyan trees alongside modern houses. Then visit families for whom silk production is a way of life. Watch as you learn the stages of handmade silk production: from spinning and gluing, to weaving and finishing silk items.
Visit the town’s sanctuaries where the first teachers are worshiped. The patterns are symmetrical in appearance and soft to the touch. Most of the patterns are designed and drawn based on the emulation of objects, animals and other shapes. You can also buy silk products at reasonable prices.
After visiting Van Phuc silk village, we continue driving towards Quang Phu Cau, the incense village. Quang Phu Cau Incense Village is full of color and action. Of course, red is the main hue on display, in a classic village context. But the surrounding workshops and drying rooms also offer a fascinating insight into this centuries-old tradition and its role in everyday life. You’ll capture authentic, eye-catching images of our local friends at work and play, with the bright bundles of red incense as a recurring motif.
